YOGA THERAPY

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Yoga therapy is based in the yoga tradition of Pantañjali and Ayurvedic wellness & lifestyle practices. Yoga is a collection of practices and approaches including movement, breath, mindfulness, self-care, rest, reflection, and meditation. Each improving how we relate to ourselves, others, and the greater world. With breath-centered practices, grounded in yoga, you will have an opportunity to learn more about and align with all layers of your self. As you choose reflective and meditation practices are integrated. The sessions are built around your ever evolving experience, interests, and goals.

A TYPICAL SESSION

We will meet at my office or online for your intake and start the conversation. Through dialogue, a review of your intake form, and an assessment we start to come together around your goals and interests and prioritize where you'd like to begin.

You may choose to sit in one of the chairs or towards the floor on a cushion as your priorities and history are reviewed. The assessment occurs throughout the session and as the approach to practice is introduced.

Scheduling a series of sessions is recommended to develop and refine a meaningful home program. Together we can schedule at a frequency that supports your process. Consider 2-3 within a couple of weeks of starting and continuing how you choose.

YOGA AND YOUR WELLNESS TEAM

Simply stated, yoga practices can help you integrate all layers of yourself, moving beyond your symptoms to connect your true nature.

Clients come to yoga therapy through professional referrals, word of mouth, and their own interest and research. Yoga can be valuable in progressing though and beyond recovery to simply living your life. Referrals work both ways, sometimes yoga can also lead to the realization that another approach is necessary or helpful.

How does it work?

Yoga is often more about how you do or relate to something rather than what you do. Like learning how to listen by tuning in rather than turning up the volume. Through witnessing and refining your awareness beyond your structural or physical self you gain access to other influences on your self and your day.

Tools and practices will be offered and reinforced to support rest and relaxation. Rest and relaxation are two ways to support your ability to repair and recover from daily life. With less pain you’ll move more freely, gradually building and maintaining strength through both your yoga practice and other favorite activities.
